Godzilla first appeared in the Toho Studios' 1954 film, Gojira (a Japanese-made feature later released in the United States as Godzilla, King of the Monsters). Godzilla became a worldwide success with film goers and monster lovers and, with the concurrent success of Aurora's line of monster model kits, was added to the collection in 1964.
Using original injection molds developed by the Aurora Plastics Company and fabricated from a design produced by sculptor Ray Meyers back in '64, Godzilla is back in his original plastic kit appearance, manufactured using original US-made tooling. After the first 1964 release of the Godzilla kit, Aurora reissued it in 1969 as part of its glow-in-the-dark lineup. This version includes alternate parts molded in phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark styrene plastic, allowing kit builders to have Godzilla's head, hands, feet, dorsal plates, and more glow in the dark after exposure to light.
Thanks to the approval of Toho Studios and in a licensing collaboration with Round2 Corp, Atlantis is glad to be reissuing this 'Glow Godzilla' kit to builders everywhere. They're especially proud to be using American-made tooling within manufacturing facilities in New York, home of the original Aurora Plastics Company.
Born in Japan and made in the U.S.A., this glow-in-the-dark Godzilla kit from Atlantis is once again a monstrous success.
