Rocker boards are often used in Waldorf early childhood classrooms for their developmental benefits and their great open-ended play value. One rocker board can be played with in so many creative and developmentally beneficial ways; as a balancing board, a see-saw, a balance beam, a bridge, a slide, or even a rocking cradle. Children can bounce, kneel, or lie down on the board or even turn it into a pirate ship! A pair of Rocker Boards doubles the fun for two children! Put four together and they form a circle in which children build homes or cozy nests in which to rest.
These unique curved boards help children develop balance, and are also excellent for stimulating the vestibular system and proprioception (awareness of one's physical body and its parts).
